Archana Jain, Psy.D

Clinical Psychologist

I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in the state of New Jersey. I have worked extensively with clinical diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and personality disorders. I am also deeply interested in helping clients who may be dealing with grief, traumatic personal histories, difficulties in relationships as well as the various identity struggles that may stem from sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, and acculturation.

Approach

Approach

I have had the opportunity to train and work in several different mental health settings and have truly come to appreciate how a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship can allow for healing and transformative growth.

I believe therapy can help clients feel understood and validated in a unique way, allowing them to develop insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Knowing the context and meaning that underlies how one relates to the self, to others and to the world leads to a greater sense of agency and choice. Over time, the therapeutic relationship can become the vehicle that allows one to break free from distressing patterns that are keeping one stuck, creating space for shaping a personal and professional life that feels satisfying and deeply meaningful.

My approach to therapy is working in a collaborative and flexible framework, drawing from various theoretical orientations and perspectives on mental health and suffering. Whether it is a psychodynamic, relational, CBT, DBT or mindfulness based approach, the core foundation of my work with clients is the establishing of a warm and empathic space that allows them to express, explore and eventually understand their unique struggles, as they move toward being authentically engaged with life.

Services

Individual Psychotherapy

In individual therapy, clients learn to healthily navigate strong emotions and better regulate their responses to life's challenges.  Therapy sessions are once a week and typically 50 minutes long. In some instances, meeting twice a week maybe clinically indicated.

Couples Therapy

I see couples in my practice who may be dealing with specific issues such as infidelity or parenting struggles or may find themselves stuck in unhealthy interpersonal patterns that have brought the relationship to a still, unhappy place. Therapy can allow couples to understand the unhelpful ways in which they may be relating to each other and can bring them to a place of greater compassion for themselves and for their relationship, making the bond between them stronger.

I am an out of network provider. Many insurance companies offer partial reimbursement for out of network mental health services. Please contact your insurance provider to understand your mental health coverage.
